Drunk Driving Victim

A young man was killed by a drunk driver while crossing the street in Parma Heights, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. The father, mother, and brother of the young man received a settlement from the drunk driver’s liability insurance policy, as well as from the family’s underinsured motorist carrier. The drunk driver had minimal liability coverage. Fortunately, the victim’s family carried underinsured motorist benefits which provided coverage due to the minimal liability insurance of the drunk driver.

Run Over in Parking Lot

A young man was run over in the parking lot by a drunk driver, upon leaving the bar in Parma Heights, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. A wrongful death settlement was paid by the liability insurance carrier of the bar owner liquor permit holder due to the death of the young man. Witnesses testified that the drunk driver was served shots and beers by the bartender, even though he was already noticeably intoxicated. The bar owner also employed an under-aged person as a security guard, checking id’s at the door.

Rear-End Collision

A father, daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren were all seriously injured when another driver caused a rear-end collision in Danbury, Ottawa County, Ohio. Injuries included a closed head injury with fractures, concussive syndrome, residual cognitive abilities, cervical whiplash, and weakness in the left arm, causing a forced retirement. The father was a U.S. Army Veteran and was hospitalized at the Veterans’ Administration Hospital (VA Hospital). The accident was investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Welding Class Explosion

An Eastlake, Lake County, Ohio student sustained burn injuries after an explosion occurred in a welding class. Our investigation determined that flammable liquids were negligently stored in an unmarked container and left near the site of a welding class.

Multiple Drunk Driving Deaths

A young man was killed by a drunk driver who went left-of-center, causing several deaths in Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County, Ohio. A wrongful death settlement was obtained for the mother and sister of the young man. The settlement was paid by a homeowner’s insurance carrier insuring the parents who had permitted a high school graduation party to take place at their home where the under-aged drinking occurred.

Highway Worker Run Over

A highway worker suffered massive injuries when he was run over by a tractor-trailer. A workers’ compensation claim was successfully argued before the Industrial Commission in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. The workers’ compensation award included scheduled losses for loss of vision, loss of hearing, loss of the use of both arms and both legs. Injuries also included traumatic brain injury, subarachnoid hemorrhage, lung contusions, fractured scapula, fractured femur, fractured facial bones. The pedestrian-truck accident occurred in Canton, Stark County, Ohio.

Assaulted in a Movie Theater

A woman received multiple injuries when she was assaulted while watching a movie in a theater in Bainbridge, Geauga County, Ohio. The offender had a known propensity for violence.

Assaulted in a Restaurant

A case in the United States District Court, Northern District of New York, involved a young professional man assaulted in a restaurant/bar causing a knee injury (torn patellar tendon) requiring surgery and extensive physical therapy. The business establishment’s liability carrier settled the claim when testimony confirmed that the person causing the assault had been previously banned from its establishment on several occasions due to previous violent acts.

Candle Explosion

A Concord, Lake County, Ohio woman received a settlement after a “gel” candle exploded, causing burns and scarring on her hands. The manufacturer of the candle issued a recall due to the hazards created in the manufacturing of the gel candle.

Motorcycle Victim

A husband and wife were severely injured in Solon, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, while lawfully driving their motorcycle, when another driver negligently failed to yield the right of way. Injuries were extensive, including comminuted fractures, internal derangement of the knee, and plastic surgery due to scarring.

Cement Truck Accident

A 69-year-old man suffered a serious brain injury in a truck crash when his pickup truck was struck by a cement truck that crashed a stop sign in Zephyr Hills, Pasco County, Florida. The large liability insurance settlement helped pay for future necessary medical care and medical bills.

Substantial Drunk Driving Victim Injuries

A woman injured by a drunk driver in Parma, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, causing substantial neck and back injuries requiring rehabilitation and physical therapy, received a substantial settlement from the drunk driver’s liability insurance carrier.

Running a Red Light

A 15-year-old girl suffered a fractured wrist, requiring surgical pinning, along with neck and back injuries in a car crash when another driver failed to stop at a red light in Twinsburg, Summit County, Ohio.

Hot Tub Infection

A settlement was obtained after a young woman contracted a serious foot infection after using a hot tub in a hotel in Buffalo, Erie County, New York. Investigation revealed the hotel did not properly clean the hot tub and did not use the proper amount of chemicals to prevent the occurrence.

Piano Movers Accident Injury

A Mayfield Village, Cuyahoga County, Ohio man received a serious leg fracture requiring surgical pinning and stabilization when the professional piano movers he hired lost control sending the piano down a flight of stairs crushing the man’s leg.

Permanent Injury from Movers

A Middleburg Heights, Cuyahoga County, Oho man received serious foot fractures after furniture movers dropped heavy furniture on his foot, causing permanent injury and damage.

Child Dog Bite Victim

A young Wickliffe, Lake County, Ohio girl received a settlement after being attached by a vicious dog, leaving permanent scarring on her face.

Dog Bite Settlement

A young Burton, Geauga County, Ohio boy received a settlement after being attacked by a vicious dog, resulting in scarring on his forehead.

Drunk Driver Injury Victim

A Shaker Heights, Cuyahoga County, Ohio man was injured after a drunk driver crashed a stop sign, causing a T-bone collision. Injuries required emergency room care and physical therapy to our client’s injured knee.

Drug Store Dispensed Wrong Dose of Drug

A husband received a settlement from a self-insured drug store chain corporation after its pharmacist dispensed the wrong dose of a certain drug being used to treat his wife who had already been diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. The prescription error caused the Willoughby Hill, Lake County, woman to receive nine times the amount of the drug she would have taken under normal circumstances, causing extreme discomfort, pain, and agony just prior to her cancer death.
